Critics Choice Awards, tutti i vincitori della serata

La 30a edizione annuale dei Critics Choice Awards, presentata da Chelsea Handler, si è tenuta ieri al Barker Hangar di Santa Monica.

Anora ha vinto il primo premio per i film, mentre Emilia Pérez, The Substance e Wicked hanno portato a casa tre vittorie ciascuna. Tra le serie televisive, Shōgun ha ottenuto quatro premi tra cui quello per la migliore serie drammatica.

Organizzata dalla Critics Choice Association, la cerimonia di premiazione avrebbe dovuto svolgersi originariamente domenica 12 gennaio, ma è stata posticipata a causa degli incendi scoppiati a Los Angeles.

Lo sceneggiatore e regista di Anora, Sean Baker è salito sul palco di Los Angeles per ritirare il premio come miglior film, battendo gli altri candidati A Complete Unknown, The Brutalist, Conclave, Dune: Part Two, Emilia Pérez, Nickel Boys, Sing Sing, The Substance e Wicked.

Nel ritirare il premio, Baker ha espresso il suo stupore per la vittoria, definendola “così inaspettata”.

“Quando coloro che dedicano la loro vita al loro amore per il cinema, la critica cinematografica e il giornalismo cinematografico, quando vedono qualcosa di positivo nel tuo lavoro, anche solo un po’, significa tutto al mondo”, ha detto. “Quindi grazie mille ragazzi”.

Baker ha continuato, “Abbiamo fatto questo piccolo film, costato 6 milioni di dollari. Di questi tempi è un micro-budget. Abbiamo girato su pellicola. Abbiamo girato a New York City. Tutto questo è successo grazie al mio incredibile cast e alla troupe che hanno fatto il possibile. Abbiamo messo ogni dollaro su quello schermo.

Dobbiamo impegnarci affinché resti sul grande schermo. Ed è questo che voglio dire. Abbiamo fatto questo film per il grande schermo. Ringraziamo tutti coloro che lo hanno visto sul grande schermo”.

Il regista ha concluso il suo discorso con un cenno ai cinema.

Dobbiamo pensare ai cinema. È lì che ci siamo innamorati dei film, nei cinema. Stanno attraversando momenti difficili. Abbiamo perso 1.000 cinema durante il COVID. Li perdiamo quasi ogni giorno. È lì che amiamo vedere i film. Vediamo i film nei nostri cinema locali.

Demi Moore è stata premiata come migliore attrice protagonista per The Substance, battendo le altre candidate: Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez), Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Hard Truths), Angelina Jolie (Maria) e Mikey Madison (Anora).

Dopo essere salita sul palco del Barkar Hangar e aver ricevuto il trofeo, l’attrice, 62 anni, ha iniziato il suo discorso ringraziando i Critics Choice Awards ed esprimendo il suo stupore per la vittoria.

“Vorrei solo dire che il riconoscimento, non solo per me, ma per ciò di cui parla questo film, ciò che cerca di trasmettere, il tuo riconoscimento è quasi come l’elisir. È il balsamo curativo per il problema stesso che il film porta avanti”, ha spiegato.

“E sono così grata non solo per la mia interpretazione, ma per aver evidenziato questo film, questo genere di film, solitamente horror, che vengono trascurati e non visti per la profondità che possono contenere.

Alle altre donne di questa categoria, Cynthia, Karla, che so che non è qui, e Marianne, Angelina, Mikey: questo è stato il regalo più grande di tutto questo processo, ovvero poter trascorrere del tempo per conoscervi e condividere le vostre storie”, ha detto.

Per il suo ruolo da protagonista in The Brutalist, Adrien Brody si è aggiudicato il premio per la migliore interpretazione maschile della serata.

“Faccio questo da quando avevo 12 anni e so molto chiaramente che questi momenti sono rari e rari nella vita di un attore. Non lo do per scontato”, ha detto Brody.

“Voglio ringraziare la mia troupe e il fantastico cast per tutti i loro fantastici contributi a questo, non potrei essere qui senza di voi, e al mio team per avermi supportato e guidato e ad A24 per aver creduto in questo film e naturalmente alla mia bellissima ragazza Georgina e ai miei genitori, grazie. Non sarei qui senza di voi. Dio benedica tutti, vi amo. Grazie.”

Brody ha battuto altri cinque attori nella corsa per questo premio: Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), Daniel Craig (Queer), Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), Ralph Fiennes (Conclave) e Hugh Grant (Heretic).
